South Asia Post
It is pertinent to ask as to why a new website. In this information age when we are bombarded from all sides with evocative or obtuse information and opinions then why add another name. Friends, after spending years in the field of journalism, somewhere in the inner recesses of the mind,   a thought lingered and always troubled most of us who are involved in launching this web opinion newspaper.

A Tale of a Headmistress, a Professor and Truant Students at the Congress Conclave
Gobind Thukral
The city of Chandigarh was all jazzed up. All roads from the airport to the venues were decorated as hundreds of security men deployed around the clock left nothing to chance and did not allow a single discordant demonstration or deputation to disturb the peace which the commanding  leaders needed to reflect on the problems of the country and what the ruling Congress could do.

Violence Back Home
Joginder Singh Toor
Violence against women is possibly the most ubiquitous and pervasive problem. It is a problem sans borders. It transcends class and caste barriers. It is a universal curse on women and their families that knows no boundaries of geography, culture or wealth. It has grown to an epidemic scale around the world, devastating lives, fracturing communities and prohibiting advancement of society.

“Is one Life Time Enough to get Justice?”
Victims of  false  Samba  Spy  Scandal   await  Justice.
Maj. Gen. Satinder Kapoor (Retd.),
We in India have a constant fear of having traitors in our midst and find it very easy to succumb to the idea of there being a spy in every corner of every organization, on the pay roll of ISI of Pakistan.  All stories of spying or alleged spying are lapped up by the public as has also recently happened in the case of Mr. Gohar Ayub Khan alleging that a Brigadier of the Indian Army had been paid a sum of Rs.20, 000/- to sell the Indian war plans in 1965.

Jyotika J. Thukral

Amu tells a tale, Listen to it

Gurpreet Singh writes from Vancouver

It isn’t an ordinary film. Based on the massacre of innocent Sikhs in India during 1984, Amu is a movie that non-Sikhs must watch. Amu is one of a few Indian films that successfully entered the Vancouver International Film Festival.

The dance of Death
Ecological Crisis in Punjab
Umendra Dutt
Once famous for its virile people and diverse cultures - the Malwa of   Punjab, the land considered to be sweeter than honey, has now turned into a land of poison. Indiscriminate use and abuse of pesticides has devastated the entire ecosystem and environmental equilibrium of Punjab.

Gobind Thukral
Crowds chase the new Punjab Congress President, Shamsher Singh Dullo anywhere he goes and more so at the Congress Bhawan.
