“Great
message. Truly, without abundant involvement of all for creating a just society
life will be meaningless. When Andre Malaraux, the celebrated French
philosopher, asked Jawaharlal Nehru as to what he found the most difficult
thing as the Prime Minister of India the reply he gave was interesting. He said
“,To create a just society by employing just means and to create a secular
State in a religious society”. Your New Year message in twenty first century
for abundant involvement of all for creating a just society recaptures the
spirit of Jawaharlal Nehru. It is exceedingly difficult to create a just society
in a country where caste and religious discriminations and age-old
inequalities persist. The way shown by Mahatma Gandhi is the most appropriate
way to do that. Once when the Deputy Foreign Minister of Norway was asked a
question as to how the inequalities caused due to globalization could be
redressed he said, “By following Gandhi’s theory of trusteeship”. When he
asked to explain the point he alluded to Gandhiji’s approach of keeping the
interests of the poorest of the poor in the agenda of development. Truly we can
create a just society by doing that. Let us be involved to achieve that goal by
following Mahatma Gandhi.”
