Terrorism and drug mafia: Why the West is silent

UNITED Nations Office of Drugs and  Crime in its report for 2009 estimated that the international drug mafia is estimated to be involved in a business whose total transactions cross $600-800 billion year. As everyone knows, a good part of this money goes to fund terrorism. This helps arms trade to flourish. When the Western counties lead by America and its allies like Pakistan fight terrorism with most lethal weapons; bombs and drones, this arms trade gets a certain boost. This is the only industry that is flourishing across the world in this time of global recession.

According to James Petras, Professor of Sociology, Binghamton University, New York, there is a consensus among the US congressional investigators, former bankers and international banking experts that the US and the European banks launder between $700 billion and $1 trillion of dirty money each year, half of which is laundered by the US banks alone. This money is responsible for destabilizing the world.

Americans who created the fundamentalist forces like Taliban in Afghanistan to fight the Soviets are not letting Afghanistan either be decimated by their dozens of bombs that the NATO forces drop  at will anywhere in the country or grow poppy ,   turn it into dangerous drugs and sell to the world. What a convulsed contribution is this?

Americans are said to stopping poppy from growing, but facts tell a different tale. Its growth has jumped many times since NATO occupied Afghanistan and promoted puppet regime. According to official admission, a number of cabinet ministers are deeply involved in the drugs trade. Corruption in all spheres of life of Afghanistan is closely linked to US $4 billion-a-year drugs trade.

This dismaying situation only means more NATO involvement, more money from these countries, more poppy, more drugs and more narco terrorism.  Hail the great American game called fighting terrorism worldwide. Real gainers would be war lords, drug mafia and the politicians who get their pockets lined up.
