India, Argentina for probing anti-dumping among G20

India was second only to Argentina among the G-20 nations in initiating anti-dumping investigations during January-July 2009, and tops the list of countries that have launched safeguard probes, a WTO report says. According to the report, India had started 15 anti- dumping investigations in the first seven months of 2009, while Argentina accounted for 19. In the same period a year ago New Delhi had initiated 13 anti-dumping investigations.

On the basis of analysis of historical patterns of anti- dumping and safeguard activities in previous business cycles, it is to be expected that the current economic crisis will result in a significant rise in the use of these steps, it said.

Musharraf's confession a trouble for Zardari?

It's a candid confession from Pervez Musharraf. He says that Pakistan has been diverting American military aid to use it against India. These are funds that were supposed to be used to fight terrorism. But according to Musharraf, they were used to build up conventional strength against India.

According to Musharraf, the money was used to arm troops and stayed with them wherever they went.

"As far as Pakistan is concerned, if our security is threatened, whether it is through Taliban we will use it against them, and if it is from India, we will use it against India. We will certainly use all our equipment against that threat," said Musharraf.

SAD marginalises its youth wing, Majithia bent to check out Kang

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) seems working overtime to diminish the role of Youth Akali Dal in the Akali politics at a time when its rival Congress party is going out of way to promote the youth workers. SAD's recent actions are described contrary to the spirit of promoting young leadership.

As far as SAD is concerned its definition of Youth Akali Dal begins and ends at Bikram Singh Majithia, former minister and son in law of SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal. Both Sukhbir Singh Badal and Majithia are in agreement that Youth Akali Dal president Kiranbir Singh Kang shall be humiliated in public and youth Akali workers shall be maltreated to an extent that they all shall denounce Kang and fall in line to accept the leadership of Raju Khanna, an infamous cable operator and a petty politicians of Patiala who is made Chairman of Youth Development Board with cabinet rank. Raju Khanna is president of Indian Student Organisation(ISO) who swell to the ranks due to his nuisance value.

Plan panel sees strong growth in second half

The Planning Commission sees stronger economic expansion in the second half which could push up the growth rate for the current fiscal to beyond 6.3 per cent projected earlier by the panel.

"On the industrial front in the last couple of months there is sequence of good news. I am hoping that the second half of this year, that means from end of September up to end of March, you will see stronger growth than you did in the first half," Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia said.

Tendulkar- Bhajji help India lift Compaq Cup

Guided by stellar show from Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh, Team India defeated Lanka by 46-runs in the tri-series final to lift the Compaq Cup and break its finals jinx. Chasing an improbable total of 319/5 set by India, Sri Lanka were bowled out for 273 in 46.4 overs.

To start with, Jayasuriya met fire with fire, setting a cheering Colombo crowd in frenzy with fours and sixes raining under floodlights at Colombo. The opening duo of Dilshan and Jayasuriya brought Sri Lanka’s fifty in just 6.2 overs. The duo, who was dealing in boundaries, took to the opposition as luck favoured the brave Jayasuriya when Virat Kohli dropped a sitter when explosive Lankan was yet to cross twenty run mark.
